We are kinship families in Scotland, fighting for the rights of all children under our care. Our 11-15 year olds are being discriminated against by the new “national allowance”. This allowance is supposed to support us, yet it is blatantly biased against a specific age group.

Kinship care is the only hope for many children to grow up in a family environment. The Scottish Government promised to support this through their “Keeping the Promise” initiative. However, they have failed us by implementing discriminatory policies that affect our most vulnerable.

We demand respect and fair treatment from our government. We urge them to review and amend these policies immediately. On November 23rd, we will demonstrate against this discrimination in plain sight.

This fight isn’t just about allowances; it’s about justice and equality for all kinship families across Scotland.
