Please see the submission by Legal Action for Women and The Disabled Mothers’ Rights Campaign to the Public Law Working Group: sub-group on adoption which was asking for Recommendations for Best Practice in Respect of Adoption. Based on our experience working with hundreds of mothers and children we said:
FORCED ADOPTIONS CONTINUE TODAY and we cannot respond to the Interim Report of the adoption sub-group without noting the overall context in which adoption is treated by social workers and other professionals, including judges, in the family courts. The Recommendations in this Report ARE either WRONG OR DON’T GO FAR ENOUGH as we explain below.
