We are taking part and supporting the Scottish Kinship Care Alliance who will be outside Holyrood on 25 April 2024 at 11am, calling for justice for kinship carers. Loving relatives (especially grans, aunties . . ) who take on caring for children when their mums can’t, need and deserve the same support as foster carers.
All research shows that children always fare better when placed with family but without support and money, such as foster carers get, these loving grandmothers and aunties too often find themselves in severe poverty.
‘Kinship leaves the door open for those who can eventually return to their birth families this
means there is a second chance at a family life. Foster care and adoption cannot provide
this, only kinship can.‘
