Stop sending pregnant women & mothers to jail!

Rosa Hicks speaking at our family court picket on 4 June. Rosa was on remand in Bronzefield prison for 6 months, charged with “conspiracy to cause a public nuisance”  as part of Just Stop Oil’s international co-ordinated campaign at airports, calling for a fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty. She was released on bail after 6 months (for practical reasons: the heating in the court cells were broken, so she needed to be bailed for the trial to go ahead). At trial she was convicted and given a 15 month sentence, released due to time served. SNS has joined the No Births Behind Bars campaign several times and gave evidence to the Sentencing Council calling for an end to sending pregnant women and mothers to prison.
