Children’s Social Care – Education Committee Report

Together with the Disabled Mothers’ Rights Campaign we gave evidence to Parliament’s Education Committee’s Inquiry into children’s social care in January 2025. This was following up the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care in May 2022. Please see our evidence to the Review here. We are glad to see that our concern about children being taken because of poverty defined as neglect is noted in the final report published in July 2025:

Much of the evidence also highlighted the relationship between poverty and neglect, and we heard some concerns about children being taken into care on the grounds of poverty, defined as neglect.[Support Not Separation, Disabled Mothers’ Rights Campaign page 66]
